I’m thinking a lot about sailing today as our son Toby is crossing Bass Strait for the first time, helping to deliver a boat from Hobart to Sydney. I can only begin to imagine what he’s experiencing, and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Sailing is an incredible experience that can leave you in awe. There's nothing quite like the feeling of the wind taking hold of the sails and propelling the boat forward. It's a powerful moment that can make you feel alive and invigorated.
As you sail further, you may encounter all sorts of marine life, from playful dolphins or migrating whales to sea turtles soaking up the sun. These encounters are a reminder of the beauty and diversity of the natural world and can leave you feeling amazed and grateful for the chance to witness them up close.
One of the most awe-inspiring sailing moments is when you witness a stunning sunset or sunrise while on the water. The colours of the sky and the reflection on the water can create a magical and unforgettable moment that fills you with wonder and appreciation for the beauty of the world.
Add in the night sky’s clarity and the possibility of an aurora or bioluminescence, and you’re in for a magical voyage. These moments can leave us feeling inspired and grateful for the beauty of the natural world.
But the most incredible aspect of sailing is feeling at one with the elements. The combination of the wind, water, and boat movement creates a sense of unity with the natural world that is truly awe-inspiring. It reminds us of our place in the world and the power of nature, leaving us feeling humbled and grateful for the chance to experience such beauty.
I’m in awe of Toby and his courage to sail this notoriously rough stretch of water.
Sending him (them) all the best! Wow
Thanks Gillian. Toby described the crossing like being stuck in the washing machine! All good now.
